Why hire an interpreter from Avison?

Good interpreting requires qualifications and a great deal of experience. There are several types of interpreting services, but Avison works mainly with:

Consecutive interpreting: Consecutive interpreting involves the interpreter first listening to the speaker(s), taking notes if necessary, and then interpreting the content or message into the target language when the speaker pauses. This type of interpreting is generally used for conferences, business meetings and so on.

Simultaneous interpreting: Simultaneous interpreting requires finely-tuned concentration skills, as the translation, or interpretation, into the target language takes place immediately, or simultaneously (hence the name!), as the words are spoken in the source language. In certain cases, the interpreter sits next to those who require the message interpreted and whispers (whispered interpreting), but usually sound equipment is used, as well as a booth for the interpreter(s), where they can listen to the speaker and interpret into a microphone. Listeners also have a headset in order to be able to hear the interpreter. The interpreter has no contact with the speaker, and therefore cannot ask for a pause or for the message to be repeated. Due to the high levels of concentration required for simultaneous interpreting, for longer sessions, two interpreters are required for each language, and these will alternate every 30 or 40 minutes. To ensure our interpreters are able to provide a quality service, it’s a good idea to send some material about the subject material to be covered in the presentation, speech, seminar etc.

Avison Communication works with consecutive, simultaneous and whispered interpreting. Feel free to contact us or send a request for a proposal.
